I’m not on the podcast for Episode 7, but I’ll keep up on the show notes just so I don’t fall out of practice.

· This Week’s Comic News:

–Juaquin Phoenix will not play Dr. Strange.
(EW.com. Anthony Breznican on Oct 2, 2014)
After three months of talking, sources close to the negotiations say that Marvel and Joaquin Phoenix were unable to come to an agreement on  the Dr. Strange movie. Director Scott Derrickson is now looking for a new actor to fill the role of Marvel’s iconic Sorcerer Supreme. There are already rumors that Ethan Hawke may be a candidate for the role, due to his prior working relationship with Derrickson, but those rumors are very preliminary at this point.

–All-New X-Factor: Cancelled
(Comicbook.com By Russ Burlingame 10/03/2014)

All-New X-Factor writer, Peter David, confirmed that the series will conclude with issue #20. On his blog, David sited lack of direct market sales as the reason the book was cancelled.

“All I did was write a book that got tons of positive write-ups,” he said. “Which I guess is enough to encourage people to buy it when it comes out in trades, oblivious to the fact that books get cancelled when you do that.” He also added, “To the best of my knowledge, digital sales don’t count. It comes down to whether enough people are buying the book on the stands. And when enough people find alternatives and it kills the sales, the book goes away.””

The latest issues of “All-New X-Factor” to be solicited are December’s issues #17 and #18. So, Issues #19 & #20 will probably be released early next year.

Writer: Remender, Rick

Cover Artist: Immonen, StuartH
Hmm. I’ve got issues with this issue. I probably wouldn’t talk about this book on the podcast because I would be critical of it on many levels. The art is nice. Other than that, I was disappointed. Disappointed with the reveal of the New Cap, the anticlimactic resolution of Arnim Zola, and with the various twists of loyalty by Jet Zola. I did like the buildup to Axis and the coming of Red Skull, but that was just a brief moment.
